PPR Presents Play Play: Strider

ouble Helix has been killing it lately with all of these sweet, and we mean SWEET remakes they’ve been pumping out lately. Coming off the heels of the surprisingly successful Killer Instinct, Double Helix collaborated with Capcom to usher the return of their ruthless super assassin, and man, did they do it with style.

Coincidentally, as we just finished talking about Metroidvania, we talk about how Strider utilizes traits of the sub-genre, and we go on to talk about how it’s still a pretty good game, despite it being rough around the edges, in the weirdest of ways…

PAX East 2014 - Play Play Special: Nuclear Throne

pon my travels through the Indie Mega Booth, I met up with one of my favorite people, Rami Ismail of Vlambeer, so I could check out Nuclear Throne. After some talking, he helped inspire an incredible idea, “Shit, we should totally do a PLAY PLAY of this!” and as it was declared, so shall it be.

I enlisted the assistance of that GWA thug-ass thug Ballsrog, and we gots to playing some Nuclear Throne for y’all; oh, and Rami made sure to hook us up with a ton of codes for the game to give away!

PPR presents Play Play: Star Tropics

ne of the strangest first-party games from Nintendo, a western-ass western game developed for the star Japanese console. Star Tropics is a little weird, a little bit of a gem even, but none of that matters because Rob Rich fucking hates this game. Before we get into some Halloween fun with our Play Plays, we decided to dive into a little bit of this forgotten game and plead that Nintendo brings bit back, or maybe we decide that it’s better off dead, who knows…

PPR Presents Play Play: DuckTales 2

apcom and WayForward brought back the Duck with the bucks, and while the game holds up in its own little ways, too few have ever been able to check out the rare sequel that released late within the NES’ lifespan. George and Ser bring you the latest Play Play, where we tackle the elusive DuckTales 2, and discuss why it’s a shame that a lot of people haven’t played it.

PPR Presents Play Play: Killer Instinct

uring Microsoft’s E3 presser on Monday, one of our predictions came to be and we all saw the revival of Killer Instinct and the plans to release it exclusively to the upcoming X-bone. Considering this was a better time than any other was, we decided to release our new weekly video series, Play Play. This video series will basically be a quick-look styled videos on all games, new or old with one of us piloting the controller and the rest joining in on the conversation. In this debut episode, we talk about how Jago-on-Jago sounds dumb, Rape Jokes being uncool, and how fucking stupid the 90’s really were.
